The straw hat pirates inter the grand line and the first line of defense is a great big whale. Then they come upon a town called whisky peak and all pirates are welcome in this town. But all is not what it seems. The whole town works for baroque works. After the crew drunks themselves silly, baroque works want to turn luffy in for the bounty on this head. The only one is still awake zolo. Now its zolo vs. baroque works. But one of there agent is a princess in disguise named vivi. A she aked luffy and to crew to help get back to her home land of alabasta. Then luffy meets to grants named dorry and broggy that have been in battle for over a hundred years now. Nami is sick, now the crew set off to find a doctor and the six crew member before heading to alabasta.- Rubio Quake

Luffy’s journey with his crew continues. This collection had one of my favorite Arcs, the Baroque Works Arc. The Straw Hats had finally arrived in the Grand Line. One problem, where is Gold Roger’s treasure, One Piece located? In this collection, Luffy and his crew befriended an mysterious little girl who can understand animals by reading their minds, battling an corrupted and greedy Marine who is seeking for immortality by killing an dragon for its bones, landing in a town full of pirate loving inhabitants or are they? The inhabitants are actually an super powered criminal group of bounty hunters named Baroque Works who were leaded by the mysterious Mr. 0. Luffy battling an island full with giants who were feuding for a hundred years. One member in Baroque Works is actually an spy and she needs the Straw Hats’ help to get her back home. Nami got sick with an unknown disease and she needs an doctor immediately or the Straw Hats will lose their navigator. The next crew member that Luffy will recruit will be an doctor who can treat their illnesses and injuries.-DC

This set of episodes begins with that bane of many an anime, a filler arc. However, this one is pretty good and delivers a fun, heartfelt story about a girl and her dragon. The next big event is the debut of Baroque Works, an assassin’s guild whose membership includes three individuals who become great characters in their own right. I’ll refrain from spoiling their identities and only list their code-names: Wednesday, Zero, and All Sunday. They start out looking like Team Rocket wannabes, but they soon reveal themselves to be far more lethal and more interesting.

The only drawbacks, as I see it are as follows. While it was nice to see what Coby had been up to since he crossed paths with Luffy, his two-part arc may have been better served if it was put somewhere else, as it stops the ongoing story dead in its tracks. The other drawback is that the Little Garden arc drags in the middle. It picks up and finishes nicely, but I will admit to getting impatient for the Giants to finish fighting and for Baroque Works to return to the story.
