The Simpsons – Season 11

DVD Wholesale Quick Overview:

The Simpsons, as much as it pains me to admit, has lost some of its quality. This current season, season 28, has been less than great. Only a few episodes have been good. Season 11, though, was full of some great episodes. Remember when bart was diagnosed with a.d.d? Or when Homer began a food critic? Or when Gary Coleman was a few prawns short a galaxy? Or when Lisa thought she could do Marge’s job (and failed)? Or when the Simpsons had to move to a farm? There are some duds, like the one about the alligator (though I love the part with the doll) and the one where bart sees his life as an adult, but the others make up for the few duds. This is a very good season, and hopefully, they get their act together this season.-elizabeth nolan

The episodes of season 11 often get confused with other seasons, but most fans could immediately guess that it takes place after season 9. There are some classic eps here, and some easily forgettable ones as well. Unfortunately, the season felt a bit misbalanced to me with the good early in the season and bad at the end. All this is subjective of course, but I probably won’t be watching the forth disc of this box set again; something I couldn’t say about any of the other seasons. Also, there’s a very definable shift this season in how the jokes are presented; instead of the witty, satirical humor that has been the Simpsons’ MO since day one it has began to rely more on the random, off the wall humor that Family Guy has always displayed. I don’t make that comparison as an insult to FG, it’s just not the Simpsons style.-AJ Blanc
